Licensing in Wyoming

Wyoming issues no state contractor license - general contractor licensing is handled entirely by cities and counties - while the State Fire Marshal adopts the statewide construction codes and reviews plans only for listed non-residential occupancies.

Licensing authority
Wyoming Secretary of State (business registration; confirms no state contractor license) and the local city or county for contractor licensing; Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office for statewide codes — official site
State licence required?
No state contractor license. The Secretary of State states: "Other than registration with the Secretary of State, a company may be in need of a specific business license or business permit based on their business purpose", and directs: "For information on general contractors, please contact the local jurisdiction where the construction activity is to take place" and "For more information on specific licensing and permitting, please contact the City Clerk's Office in the Wyoming city you are conducting business." Electrical contractors are directed to the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety.
Permit for a garage door
